Georgia Myer joins Signal as Accounting Manager

Georgia Myer of East Calais has joined the team at Montpelier electronic marketing and advertising firm Signal (www.signalz.com) as Accounting Manager.

Since 1993, she has provided circulation management and business planning services as an independent consultant working for periodical publishers such as CMP Publications, The Christian Science Monitor, FHM, Yankee and Running Times. As a subcontractor for DM Services, she built business models for The New Yorker, Teen People and Sports Illustrated for Women.

Gov. Shumlin appoints Sydney Lea as The New Vermont Poet Laureate

The Vermont Arts Council is pleased to announce that Gov. Peter Shumlin has appointed Sydney Lea of Newbury as Vermont’s next Poet Laureate to succeed Ruth Stone, whose four-year term ends in 2011. A public ceremony honoring Mr. Lea will be held on Nov. 4 at the Capital Plaza Hotel in Montpelier. The ceremony will be attended by Gov. Shumlin as part of an evening celebrating the arts in Vermont.

Stephanie J. Mapes elected to the ICCIE Board of Directors

Lyndon Institute announces the appointment of Charles W. Bucknam Jr. Assistant Head for Business

Charles W. (Charlie) Bucknam, Jr., has been appointed Assistant Head for Business at Lyndon Institute. Bucknam comes to the position after a long career in banking and finance in Vermont. Most recently he served for 14 years as President and Chief Executive Officer of LyndonBank in Lyndonville, Vermont.

“Charlie is recognized as a financial leader in the Northeast Kingdom, and his experience as a Corporator serving on our Trustee Finance Committee gives him valuable perspective on school finances,” said Rick Hilton, headmaster of the independent high school.

CVMC opens Occupational Medicine Department

“Central Vermont Medical Center has opened an Occupational Medicine Department at the Aquatic Wellness Center on Granger Road in Berlin,” announced Judy Tarr Tartaglia, CVMC president and CEO.

“Susan Olsen, MD has been hired as Medical Director. She has a wealth of experience and understands the process,” continued Judy. “She is joined by a nurse practitioner, Sarah Britton. Together they will offer Occupational Medicine services five days a week. We are very excited to finally be able to add this specialty to CVMC.”
