The Champlain Valley Business and Professional Women’s Club (BPW) recently honored Heidi G. Clute, CFP®, owner of Clute Wealth Management, as Businesswoman of the Year.
Nominees for Businesswoman of the Year must be currently employed and the person must exhibit "the highest degree of integrity in her daily life and be highly respected in her community," according to Amanda Maggy, BPW President.
Dr. S. Glen Neale welcomed back to North Country Orthopaedics
North Country Orthopaedics and North Country Hospital are pleased to welcome Dr. S. Glen Neale as its new full-time orthopaedic surgeon. The doctor is no stranger to the practice or to North Country Hospital. He has worked at the practice part-time for several years. On September 14 Dr. Neale joined the practice on a full-time basis.
Mary Powell receives Achieve Award
Three hundred women from throughout Vermont gathered at the Sheraton on November 2 for the 10th annual Key4Women Forum to discuss courage in leadership and why courage is vital to the achievement of success by women in business.
All proceeds from the Key4Women Forum were donated to Vermont Women’s Fund and totaled more than $6,000. Over the event's 10 years, more than $55,000 has gone to the organization.
COTS announces New Chair, Vice Chair; Re-elects Treasurer, welcomes new board members
The Committee on Temporary Shelter (COTS) announces the election of three new officers to its Board of Directors: Michael J. New as Board Chair; Brigitte Ritchie as Vice Chair and Patrick Thornton, who was re-elected as Treasurer. The staff and board also would like to extend their sincerest thanks to Lesli Blount, who is COTS’ outgoing Board Chair and Director of Community Relations at KeyBank.
Robert Purcell joins VHFA as Financial Analyst
Executive Director Sarah Carpenter announced Robert Purcell of Georgia, VT has joined Vermont Housing Finance Agency (VHFA) as Financial Analyst. Purcell brings vast accounting and analytical experience ranging from accounting positions at Wells Fargo to account management in the captive insurance industry. He also brings strong systems and process improvement skills.
Purcell holds a Masters in Public Administration earned at The University of Vermont and a B.A. in Business earned at The University of Colorado.

Richard grew up in northern Vermont and graduated from San Francisco State University. He earned his Doctorate in Physical Therapy from University of the Pacific in Stockton, CA. Prior to his return with family to Vermont, he worked with the former Cleveland Browns orthopaedic surgeon and the current orthopaedic surgeon for the San Francisco Giants.
Trombley Oakes appointed as the First Associate Dean for Institutional Advancement at Vermont Tech
Vermont Technical College has appointsed Martha Trombley Oakes to the newly created post of Associate Dean for Institutional Advancement. Trombley Oakes, who is a native Vermonter, comes to Vermont Tech from National Life Group in Montpelier where she served as president and CEO of the National Life Group Charitable Foundation, Inc. and director of corporate and community relations for National Life Group. She also served in the Vermont Secretary of State’s Office under then Secretary Deb Markowitz and United States Congressman Thomas Allen’s Washington, DC Office.
