University of Vermont welcomes new OTC director
University of Vermont has announced that Corine Farewell, DVM, MBA has joined UVM as the new OTC director from the University of Rochester. Since 1998 at Cornell University and then URoch, Dr. Farewell has been active in technology commercialization and entrepreneurship pursuits. Prior to her technology transfer roles, Dr. Farewell provided technical services, marketing, training and development expertise internationally for the Iams Company and practiced veterinary medicine in Germany.
President nominates Leahy to U.S. Congressional Delegation to the United Nations
President Obama has nominated Sen. Patrick Leahy (D-Vt.) to be a representative of the United States with the U.S. Mission to the United Nations, for the upcoming 67th Session of the UN’s General Assembly. The General Assembly’s session opens Sept. 18.
Leahy, who chairs the Senate Appropriations Committee’s Subcommittee on the State Department and Foreign Operations, has long been a leader in the U.S. Senate on human rights and foreign policy issues. Also nominated to the U.S. delegation is Sen. Johnny Isakson, R-Ga.
