Business Roundtable elects new officers and directors for 2013

At its 26th Annual Membership Meeting held today at Topnotch Resort & Spa in Stowe, the Vermont Business Roundtable elected new officers of the Board of Directors, including: Chair – Mary G. Powell, CEO, Green Mountain Power Corporation; Vice-Chair – Winthrop H. ‘Win’ Smith, Jr. President, Sugarbush Resort; Secretary – Robert E. ‘Rob’ Simpson, Jr., President and CEO, Brattleboro Retreat; Treasurer – G. Kenneth ‘Ken’ Perine, President, National Bank of Middlebury; and Immediate Past Chair, Steve Voigt, President and CEO, King Arthur Flour.

Merchants Bank appoints Zoe Erdman and Laura Abbott to new leadership positions

Mike Tuttle, President and CEO of Merchants Bank, announced two new management appointments at the company. Zoe Erdman has been promoted to Senior Vice President and Senior Operations Officer; Laura Abbott will serve as the new Senior Credit Officer. Both women each bring more than two decades of experience in banking and finance to their new positions.

In her new position, Zoe will manage information technology, facilities and operations at the bank. Laura will be responsible for managing the credit department and monitoring the bank’s loan portfolio.

Todd G. Menia, M.D. named Medical Director of Emergency Department at Inter-Lakes Health

Todd G. Menia, M.D. has been appointed medical director of the Emergency Department at Inter-Lakes Health in Ticonderoga, New York. Dr. Menia will be an employee of Fletcher Allen Health Care and will supervise the Inter-Lakes Health Emergency Department team in conjunction with Fletcher Allen Emergency Department Director Dr. Ray Keller and his staff.

Penrose Jackson assumes role as chair of Vermont Public Health Association

The Vermont Public Health Association is pleased to announce that Penrose Jackson has assumed the role as chair of its Board of Directors. Ms. Jackson is Director of Community Health Improvement at Fletcher Allen Health Care, a role she has held for ten years. She takes over the chair from Heidi Klein, who recently joined the Vermont Department of Health as Director of Health Surveillance. Ms. Jackson said, “In taking on this responsibility, I want to give special thanks to Heidi Klein for her leadership over the last two years.

Matthew Mears, PE, joins DuBois & King

DuBois & King, Inc., consulting engineers announce that Matthew Mears, PE, has joined the firm as a Project Engineer in the Transportation Division. A graduate of the University of Vermont, Mr. Mears is a Professional Engineer in Vermont, New Hampshire, and New York. Mr. Mears’ professional experience includes Quality Assurance Engineer, Construction Inspector, and Project Engineer on utility, stormwater, roadway, and wastewater projects. Mr. Mears resides in Milton and works in the firm’s Williston office.

Robert Christensen joins Ledyard National Bank

Ledyard National Bank is pleased to announce that Robert Christensen has joined the bank as a Vice President and Commercial Relationship Manager. He will be responsible for business development and management of commercial banking accounts in the Upper Valley region of Vermont and New Hampshire. Bob received his MBA from Pennsylvania State University in University Park, Pennsylvania and his BS in Business Administration from Saint Michael’s College in Colchester, Vermont.
