Cigna Insurance of Bloomfield, Conn., has recognized Southern Vermont Medical Center endocrinologist David M. Gorson, MD, FACE, with the Cigna Care Designated Physician award. This designation uses national standards to recognize physicians who provide high-quality, cost-effective medical care. Cigna encourages its insured patients to use physicians who have received this designation by offering them lower co-pays and coinsurance rates. A member of SVMC’s medical staff since 1992, Dr. Gorson specializes in treating diabetes and other endocrine and metabolic diseases.
Vermont Trophy & Engraving co-owner Steve Swett to retire
Vermont Trophy & Engraving has announced the retirement of co-owner Steve Swett. Steve and Margi bought the business in 1996, after Steve’s 32 year career in trust banking. Now, after 17 years as a small business owner, Steve feels he’s earned the chance to relax and sleep in. Duke, the store golden retriever, has decided that retirement looks good to him too (a new shop assistant will arrive in September).
Margi and the rest of the staff are staying on and endeavoring to continue in the customer centered fashion that Steve developed.
Luebbers appointed assistant dean for Clinical Research Administration
Kimberly Luebbers, MSHS, RN, BSN, OCN, has been appointed Assistant Dean for Clinical Research Administration effective August 16, 2013, overseeing the Office of Clinical Trials Research and administration of the Clinical Research Center. Luebbers is currently serving as Deputy Director for Administration for the Vermont Cancer Center and Director of the Office of Clinical Trials Research at UVM and Fletcher Allen.

Lisa Ventriss, President of Vermont Business Roundtable and Mary Powell, CEO, Green Mountain Power and Chair of the Roundtable Board of Directors have announced the organization’s newest member, Mark Foley, Jr., Owner and President of Foley Services. Located in Rutland, Foley Services was founded in 1879 and is the oldest family run laundry operation in the United States specializing in restaurant linens and uniforms. Mr. Foley, Jr. is the fourth generation owner of Foley Services.
