Norwich University student wins national award
Cadet Lt. Col. Margo Smutnick, 1st Battalion Commander in the Corps of Cadets, has received the General Willard Scott Award, a national honor presented annually to a student of a military school.
The award is presented by the Association of Military Colleges and Schools of the United States (AMCSUS) and the Scott family to honor Gen. Scott’s contributions to AMCSUS and the military education of young men and women. Gen. Scott was the superintendent of the U.S. Military Academy from 1981 to 1986 and executive director of AMCSUS from 1988 to 1997.

Fundraiser created by Northfield Savings Bank employees raises over $37,000 for food shelf
Thursday, March 13 marked the eighth annual St. Patrick’s Day “Feast Against Famine” fundraising event to benefit the Chittenden Emergency Food Shelf (CEFS). Created in 2006 by a dedicated group of Northfield Savings Bank employees, the event has since become the largest annual fundraiser for the Food Shelf.

Attorney General Bill Sorrell appointed Assistant Attorney General John Treadwell as Chief of the Criminal Division of the Vermont Attorney General’s Office. Treadwell has 18 years of experience as a criminal prosecutor serving for 4 years as a Chittenden County Deputy State’s Attorney and 14 years as a prosecutor in the AGO.
