Maponics, a leading provider of geospatial data, has announced that Dan Adams has been promoted from Chief Operating Officer to Chief Executive Officer. Founder and previous CEO Darrin Clement will remain at Maponics as Chairman of the Board and will explore new markets for the company.
Clement promoted Adams to CEO because of the company's geometric growth stemming from the introduction of Context(tm), the thirteen new data offerings that make up the first-ever comprehensive suite of lifestyle and behavior analytics tied to relevant geographies. With this new product line, the company's data management responsibilities have grown considerably. "The scale of the business is growing," explained Clement. "We are committed to maintaining and improving Maponics' high quality of service and customer experience while engaging new opportunities. These management changes enable us to do both."
Dan Adams brings 17+ years of relevant industry experience to the position of CEO, including business development, sales, operations, supplier management and management of customer relationships. At TomTom, Adams served as VP of Location and Live Services, VP of Geospatial Sales, VP of Product Management and VP of Partner Development. At TeleAtlas, Adams was VP of Data Sourcing and VP of Operations. Adams also held several posts at GDT, including VP of Transportation Development and Manager of Business Development.
"Maponics' recent growth reflects our dedication to quality, consistency and meeting the needs of our customers by offering cutting-edge, descriptive data," commented Adams. "I feel very fortunate that my roles in business development, sales, project management and operations have prepared me to help Maponics strengthen our rigor around production processes while looking toward new products and delivery mechanisms."
Adams added that in addition to investing in Context, Maponics remains focused on its core products: Neighborhood Boundaries, School Boundaries, ZIP Code Boundaries and Social Places.
Adams, who joined Maponics in July 2013, noted, "As the market continues to find exciting new ways to use location data in consumers' day-to-day lives - from social networking, to accessing healthcare, to buying a home - we see the opportunity for Maponics' products to play a central role in a growing number of everyday activities." The company is headquartered in Vermont.
