NCH Medical staff completes food drive

North Country Hospital Medical Staff President, Dr. Jennifer Ladd, delivered several boxes of food and well over $2,300 last week to the NEKCA food shelf from a month long effort. "The medical staff wanted to donate to the community and decided to give food and money to the local NEKCA food shelf.

" Accepting the donation is April Mead of NEKCA. She commented how grateful NEKCA is to receive this donation, as this time of year the shelves are very much depleted.

Liam Lustberg wins statewide spelling bee

Liam Lustberg bested 40 other students from across Vermont to win the Vermont Spelling Bee on Wednesday, March 19, 2014. Lustberg, an 8th grader from Frederick H. Tuttle Middle School, will now compete against top spellers from every other state in the nation in the Scripps National Spelling Bee in Washington D.C. in June.

The winning word was “pogrom,” a noun which means “an organized massacre and looting of helpless people usually with the connivance of officials.” Lustberg pronounced and spelled the winning word correctly in round 26.
