Brent Kay, Superintendent for the Orange Southwest Supervisory Union (serving the communities of Randolph, Brookfield and Braintree), has been selected as the Vermont Superintendent of the Year for 2014 by the Vermont Superintendents Association (VSA). Dr. Kay was presented with the Frederick H. Tuttle Superintendent of the Year Award at the annual meeting of the Association on May 22, 2014.
The Vermont Agency has announced that Jan Knutsen earned the 2014 NAIFA-VT (National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisers) “New Advisor of the Year” award. The award was presented to Jan at the Annual NAIFA-VT meeting held this year on May 13th at the UVM Davis Center.
Governor Peter Shumlin has appointed Melinda Moulton to serve on the Vermont Commission on Women (VCW).

At its annual meeting on May 13, the Governing Board of the East Central Vermont Community Fiber Optic Network (ECFiber) elected David Halpert, of West Windsor, to a three year term on ECFiber’s Executive Committee. Murphy Sullivan Kronk has been named to the top tier of Vermont law firms practicing real estate law by Chambers USA in its 2014 law firm rankings, identifying the firm as a “compact team of dedicated real estate and land use practitioners.” Individually, Liam Murphy ranked in the top tier for attorneys practicing real estate law, and both Liam Murphy and Brian Sullivan ranked in the top tier for attorneys practicing zoning and land use law. The Vermont State Colleges Board of Trustees will have a new Chair for the first time in eight years. At its Thursday meeting held at Castleton State College, the VSC Board elected Martha O’Connor of Brattleboro to take the gavel from outgoing Chair Gary Moore of Bradford.
