Merchants Bank promotes Debra McDurfee to residential and retail lending associate

Dody Fraher-Ruland, Residential and Retail Loan Manager of Merchants Bank announces the promotion of Debra McDurfee to Residential and Retail Lending Associate. McDurfee has eighteen years of banking experience, with eleven years as a Personal Banking Lender for Merchants Bank. She is an active volunteer in her community and assists at Hope Lodge in her spare time.

ANEW Place welcomes new development & marketing director

ANEW Place has announced the addition of Michelle Omo, who has recently joined our team as Development & Marketing Director. Michelle’s role is instrumental in building support for and raising awareness of the ANEW Place mission and its holistic 4-phase transitional programs for homeless adults. As a newer resident of Burlington’s Old North End, Michelle recently worked for 150 Cherry St. Inc. and served in many capacities with their farm, restaurant, and ministry room.

Steve Gronlund joins VHFA as human resources manager

Executive Director Sarah Carpenter announced Steve Gronlund of Shelburne, VT has joined VHFA as Human Resources Manager.

Steve comes to VHFA from Heartworks and Renaissance Schools where he worked for the past 15 years, most recently as the Human Resources and Business Manager.

NECO to present The Ellis Island Medals of Honor

On Saturday, May 9, 2015, Dr. James N. Weinstein, Chief Executive Officer and President of the Dartmouth-Hitchcock health system, will be among the ninety honorees who will receive the Ellis Island Medal of Honor from the National Ethnic Coalition of Organizations-NECO. The list of honorees will include: Talk Show Host Meredith Vieira, New York Yankees legend Mariano Rivera, U.S. Representative Ted Poe (R-TX), twelve members of the U.S. Military and Washington, D.C. Police Chief Cathy L. Lanier.

Vermont Tech students take 1st place in the SEI student design competition

Vermont Tech has announced that a team comprised of Alyshia Jones from Randolph, VT, David Cacciamani from Hyde Park, VT and William A. Moore IV of Milton, VT placed first in the American Society of Civil Engineers’ Structural Engineering Institute’s (SEI) Student Design Competition. All three individuals are 2014 graduates of the Architectural Engineering Technology Bachelor’s program at Vermont Tech.

Burlington Business Association appoints Richard Deane as new board chair

The Burlington Business Association (BBA) has appointed Richard Deane of TruexCullins Architecture as the new Chair of the Board of Directors. Richard Deane officially took over the seat of Chair last month at the BBA’s 37th annual dinner celebration with the ceremonial handing over of the gavel by retiring Chair, Tom Brassard. Brassard served a two year term as Chair from 2013 to 2015 and will maintain a seat on the BBA board and serve as Board Secretary.
