Fort Ticonderoga recently announced that Frank Schlamp of Ticonderoga, NY, has received the 2015 Fort Ticonderoga Volunteer of the Year Award. Mr. Schlamp received the honor in recognition of his years of dedicated service, commitment to Fort Ticonderoga’s educational mission, and generous support in all areas of Fort Ticonderoga’s operations. Mr. Schlamp has earned the highest status in Fort Ticonderoga’s Volunteers Count! rewards program, the Triple Diamond level, with 546 hours logged as of the end of August.

Dr Kimberley Sampson joins SVMC’s OB/Gyn practice

SVMC Obstetrics and Gynecology has welcomed Dr. Kimberley Sampson to the practice.

Originally from the United Kingdom, Sampson received her medical degree from St. Matthew’s University School of Medicine in Grand Cayman, BWI, and a degree in biology from the University of Glamorgan in Wales, UK. She completed her residency in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Mount Sinai Hospital and Medical Centers in Chicago and taught as a Professor of Clinical Science at the Chicago Medical School and as an Assistant Professor of Clinical Science at St. Matthew’s University.

Norwich University names new digital forensics professor and director of computing center

Norwich University has named Huw Read, PhD, Associate Professor and Director of the Norwich University Center for Advanced Computing and Digital Forensics, beginning fall 2015.

Read began his academic career as a research assistant in 2004 working on improving tools for digital forensics. After obtaining his Ph.D. in 2009 from the University of Glamorgan (now University of South Wales), Read went on to become a lecturer, later a senior lecturer and course leader specializing in computer forensics at the University of Glamorgan in the United Kingdom.

St Michael’s priests, seminarian off to Mass with Pope Francis in DC

Three members of the Society of St. Edmund, founding order of Saint Michael’s College outside Burlington, Vermont, will be attending Mass at the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception with Pope Francis on Wednesday, Sept. 23, the day after his arrival.

They include Superior General Very Rev Stephen Hornat, SSE; former Superior General Rev. Michael Cronogue, SSE; and Brother Michael Carter, who is in his third year of theology studies at Boston College in preparation for ordination to priesthood with the Edmundites.

Southern Vermont College trustees name David Newell to board

The Board of Trustees at Southern Vermont College (SVC) has appointed David J. Newell of Shaftsbury, Vt., as a new Board member at their recent meeting in September. Newell, a well-respected and active member of the Bennington community, is president of Wills Insurance, Inc.

A native of Pittsburgh, Pa., Newell received a BA degree in Political Science and American Studies from Dickinson College in Carlisle, Pa., and an MA in Governmental Administration from the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, Pa.
