Lake Monsters broadcaster George Commo winner of Inaugural Warner Fusselle Award For Radio Excellence

Vermont Lake Monsters radio broadcaster George Commo has been named the winner of the inaugural Warner Fusselle Award for Radio Excellence, given to the best New York-Penn League broadcaster as determined on overall production quality, knowledge/preparedness and presentation of the game by a league committee, the Short Season Single-A affiliate of the Oakland Athletics has recently announced.

Nick Lizotte joins BlackRock Construction and KW Vermont

Nick Lizotte has joined BlackRock Construction as managing principal. In addition, Lizotte, a real estate sales professional from Stowe, has joined KW Vermont. As managing principal, Lizotte will be responsible for the growth of BlackRock Construction by creating an investment focus, acquisition strategy, analyzing development opportunities, and overseeing their capital raising efforts. At KW Vermont, Lizotte will continue to help buyers and sellers with all of their real estate needs, while growing and leading his real estate team.

VHS announces recent election of trustees

The Vermont Historical Society elected Roger Stone to its Board of Trustees at the organization’s annual meeting recently. Roger’s ancestors came to Vermont after the French and Indian War. His immediate family moved to Vermont when he was in junior high, and he graduated in 1964 from UVM. He and his wife raised their children in Belmont, Massachusetts, before returning to Vermont. Roger was president of Stone Investment Advisory, Inc., Burlington, providing investment management and consulting services from 1995 to 2008.

ArtShape Mammoth partners with Vermont's ONE Arts

Ellen Kahler to be honored with inaugural Con Hogan Award

The Vermont Community Foundation and the organizing committee for the Con Hogan Award for Creative, Entrepreneurial, Community Leadership are pleased to announce Ellen Kahler, executive director of the Vermont Sustainable Jobs Fund (VSJF), as the winner of the inaugural award.

The $15,000 award will be presented to Kahler at a reception on October 8th at the Vermont College of Fine Arts in Montpelier.

CCV’s Tiffany Keune receives leadership award from Vermont Women in Higher Education

Vermont Women in Higher Education (VWHE) recently announced that Tiffany Keune has received the Jackie M. Gribbons Leadership Award. Keune is the Director of Workforce Education at the Community College of Vermont (CCV), where her work in corporate training and workforce development includes curriculum design, business outreach, workshop facilitation, course instruction, and instructor training. She also works with trainers, teachers, graduate, and undergraduate students to improve instructional practices and assessment strategies.

Comcast Cable appoints Michael Parker Senior Vice President of the Western New England Region

Comcast Cable has announced that Michael Parker has been named Senior Vice President of the company’s Western New England Region, which includes Vermont. In this role, Parker is the top executive responsible for operations, performance and customer experience for the region, which employs more than 1,700 people and encompasses 300 communities in Vermont, Connecticut, western Massachusetts, western New Hampshire and New York.

AllEarth Renewables hires Jim Becker as purchasing manager

AllEarth Renewables, the award winning Vermont-based solar tracker manufacturer, has announced the hiring of Jim Becker as its purchasing manager.

Becker will focus purchasing for the company's lean manufacturing operations based in Williston, Vt. Becker, of Georgia, Vt., is a U.S. Air Force veteran. He comes to the job with a Level 5 Certification in Inventory Management and an accredited Purchasing Practitioner with the Institute of Supply Management.

Howard Center celebrates staff for their years of service

Howard Center recently recognized more than 60 staff who celebrated work anniversaries of 10 years or longer.

Bruce Audette, Assistant Director of the Baird School, was recognized for 25 years of service. Audette has worked as a physical Educator at the Baird School and as CYO Athletic Director for the Diocese of Burlington. He resides in South Burlington with his wife of 27 years, Wanda Audette, who is an adoption director at Lund Center. They have three daughters.
