Johnson State alum named one of the nation’s top PE teachers

Brian Godfrey of Waterbury, a 2003 alumnus of Johnson State College, has been named one of the top physical education teachers in the nation by SHAPE (Society of Health and Physical Educators) America, the country’s largest membership organization of health and physical education professionals.

By being named Eastern District Physical Education Teacher of the Year, Godfrey becomes one of four teachers in the country to be nominated for SHAPE America's National Teacher of the Year.

Vermont Commission on Women welcomes Hannah Elle Myers

The Vermont Commission on Women welcomes Hannah Elle Myers of Norwich as Executive Staff Assistant. Myers spent several years as Staff Attorney serving clients in the Northeast Kingdom for Have Justice – Will Travel (HJWT), a Vermont non-profit providing holistic pro-bono representation to low-income victims of domestic and sexual violence. Myers provided direct free legal services to hundreds of Vermont women and families for matters such as obtaining Relief from Abuse Orders (RFA’s), divorce, child custody, and child support.

Vermont Historical Society hires development officer

The Vermont Historical Society has hired Kristin Dodge as the Development Officer to enhance fundraising for preserving, exhibiting, and sharing Vermont’s historical artifacts and documents. She will establish connections to contributors in Vermont and beyond to help the Society maintain its mission as a nonprofit organization committed to reaching a broad audience through collections, statewide outreach, and dynamic programming.

Attorney Andrew J Kestner joins Langrock Sperry & Wool as associate

Andrew J. Kestner has joined the law firm Langrock Sperry & Wool, LLP as an associate in the Burlington office, working primarily in the area of family law and probate litigation. He also handles family law appeals and professional responsibility matters. Andy has extensive experience negotiating and preparing prenuptial and postnuptial agreements, as well as complex marital separation agreements.

Bob Wolford honored by Turning Point

Bob Wolford, Howard Center’s Coordinator of Criminal Justice Programs, recently received the Tom Crowley Award at The Turning Point’s Circle of Stars annual dinner. The Turning Point Center of Chittenden County offers support for individuals in recovery, and the award was created in honor of Senator Tom Crowley, an advocate for people in recovery from alcohol and/or drug addiction. It is presented annually to a person in the community who has performed outstanding work in support of people struggling with alcohol and/or drug addictions.
