Michael Snyder, George Russell join board of Vermont Youth Conservation Corps
Vermont Youth Conservation Corps has announced two new trustees. Michael Snyder, Commissioner of Vermont Forests, Parks, and Recreation, is serving as an ex officio member. Snyder was appointed to his current post as Commissioner by Governor Shumlin in 2010. Prior to that, he served for 14 years as Chittenden County Forester, taught courses in Forestry at the University of Vermont for 12 years, and writes the Woods Whys column for Northern Woodlands Magazine. He was a US Youth Conservation Corps member as a 15-year-old.

The Alliance for Community Media -Northeast Region hosted their 17th Annual Video Festival at the Mark Twain House and Museum in Hartford, CT. Vermont Watchdog has added its presence to the Vermont Statehouse press corps, with the hiring of reporter Michael Bielawski.
Bielawski, a Hardwick resident, will spend several days a week in Montpelier, covering legislative and other state government news, with a particular focus on energy, education, employment, and other issues of interest to Vermont readers, said Vermont Watchdog Chief Reporter Bruce Parker.
