Mt Ascutney Hospital and Health Center names Gloria LaClair Employee of the Month for January

Gloria LaClair has been selected as January Employee of the Month at Mt. Ascutney Hospital and Health Center, in recognition of sustained service excellence. LaClair, who works in the Hospital’s nutrition services, was cited for her strong work ethic, her willingness to help when needed, and her positive attitude.

Vermont athletes win medals and ribbons at National Senior Games in Minneapolis

Lieutenant Governor Phil Scott recently hosted a Salute to the Vermont senior athletes who won medals and ribbons at the 2015 National Senior Games held in Minneapolis, MN. A reception followed in the Cedar Creek Room in the Statehouse.

A few facts about the performance of our Vermont athletes in Minneapolis:

1) 48 Vermonters participated in the National Senior Games last summer

2) Vermont ranked 37th in the medal count

3) Vermonters won 28 medals:

× 14 Gold Medals

× 6 Silver Medals

× 8 Bronze Medals

Rutland Community Cupboard opens at new location

The ribbon is cut by Darren Childs, Board President and Kelly Giancola, Executive Director at the Rutland Region Chamber of Commerce Ribbon Cutting Celebration for the new location of the Rutland Community Cupboard, 65 River St. in Rutland. The Rutland Community Cupboard serves individuals and families who are in need of food, all food items are free, thanks to the generosity of community donations. Their volunteers understand that it may be a difficult time in a family’s life and make every effort to create an atmosphere that is welcoming, comfortable and confidential.

South Burlington and Barre students earn $1,000 awards, engraved medallions and trip to nation’s capital

Kiran Waqar, 15, of South Burlington and Miranda Walbridge, 12, of Barre today were named Vermont's top two youth volunteers of 2016 by The Prudential Spirit of Community Awards, a nationwide program honoring young people for outstanding acts of volunteerism. Kiran was nominated by South Burlington High School in South Burlington, and Miranda was nominated by Barre City Elementary and Middle School in Barre.
