SVMC cardiac rehabilitation group raise funds for victim of fire

Nancy Livingston, former occupant of the Grant Street apartment building destroyed by fire earlier this month, is a participant in the Phase III Cardiac Rehabilitation Maintenance Program at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center. Seated in pink at the center, Livingston is surrounded by members of the cardiac rehab group, who joined together to raise several hundred dollars to replace Livingston’s belongings.

Rice Memorial High School’s Maggie Fitzgerald wins Vermont Poetry Out Loud competition

Maggie Fitzgerald, a senior at Rice Memorial High School, took top honors at the Poetry Out Loud State Finals, held at Vermont PBS on March 17. Fitzgerald was one of 10 finalists representing schools from across the state.

Fitzgerald secured the State championship by expertly reciting three poems with poise and fine-tuned interpretation. Anna Van Dine, a senior at Harwood Union high School, was the second place winner. The finals competition will be aired on Vermont PBS on Friday, April 29 at 8:00 p.m.

Lyndon State College News 7 broadcast receiving national recognition

Lyndon State's November 19 News 7 broadcast has been named the third-best college newscast by the Broadcast Education Association (BEA), just behind programs from Arizona State University and the University of Oklahoma. This same newscast is a finalist for the Region 1 Mark of Excellence competition for Best All-Around Television Newscast in the northeast as chosen by the Society of Professional Journalists (SPJ).
