Norwich Writers Series presents play and playwright
Norwich University’s 2015-16 Writers Series presents “Rodeo Gals,” a play written and produced by Jeanne Beckwith, March 31 – April 2, beginning at 7:30 p.m. in Dole Auditorium.
The performance of “Rodeo Gals” on Saturday, April 2, will be followed by an interactive “Talk Back” with Beckwith and the actors.
A Norwich Adjunct Professor in playwriting and theater, Beckwith has been writing and producing plays since 1982. She received her doctorate from the University of Georgia.
Stantec promotes three in South Burlington
The South Burlington office of design firm Stantec has promoted three of its engineers: Greg Goyette, Rick Bryant, and Israel Maynard.
Now a Senior Associate, Greg Goyette has become a key player in designing Vermont’s transportation infrastructure, helping to lead the firm’s commitment to create designs that are sensitive to the impacts on the community, the economy, and the environment. He’s a registered professional engineer and an active member of the engineering profession in Vermont.
Rich Drill passes Vermont Real Estate Brokers exam
Rich Drill, sales agent at New England Landmark Realty, recently passed the Vermont Real Estate Brokers exam. The 4-hour comprehensive exam tests the in-depth knowledge of National and Vermont real estate law. A Broker's license allows a Realtor to become a principle broker in a real estate office and supervise real estate sales agents.
New England Landmark Realty operates offices in Waterbury and Stowe, specializing in marketing primary and secondary homes and land throughout Vermont."
Scott Thomas named dean of UVM College of Education and Social Services
Scott Thomas, currently dean of the School of Educational Studies at Claremont Graduate University, has been named dean of the College of Education and Social Services at the University of Vermont. He will begin his UVM tenure July 1.
Vermont business leaders join NBT Bank New England advisory board
NBT Bank Regional President Matt Durkee announced that two Vermont business leaders have joined him on NBT Bank’s New England Advisory Board. They are: Dawn Terrill, President of Janitech, Inc., and David Holton, President of The Essex Agency.

Howard Center Curling Challenge raises $47,000
This year, Howard Center’s Curling Challenge fundraiser featured 30 teams, including several high school teams which were sponsored by Kittell Branagan & Sargent, McSoley McCoy & Co., and Myers Waste & Recycle. The Silver-level sponsors for this year’s fundraiser include Blue Cross Blue Shield of Vermont, Geri Reilly Real Estate, Price Chopper, Tech Group, Tech Vault, and Cairns Arena. In addition, numerous businesses fielded teams, including Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Vermont, Dinse Knapp McAndrew, Spruce Mortgage, and TruexCullins.
Norwich presents award winning author and poet
The Norwich Writers Series presents author Kerrin McCadden on April 11 at 4:30 p.m. in the Kreitzberg Library Multipurpose Room.
McCadden is the author of “Landscape with Plywood Silhouettes,” winner of the 2013 New Issues Poetry Prize and the 2015 Vermont Book Award. One judge of the New Issues Poetry Prize said her book was “one of the most compelling and powerful debut collections in recent American poetry.”
Sponsored by Vermont Humanities, this special event is part of PoemCampus, a celebration of poetry across campus, and is free and open to the public.
