Vermont State Council of Society for Human Resource Management receives Excel Silver Award

The Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) recently awarded the SHRM Vermont State Council with the prestigious Excel Silver Award for its accomplishments in 2015.

The Excel awards are a recognition component of the SHRM Affiliate Program for Excellence, which aligns individual chapters and councils’ activities with SHRM’s aspirations for the HR profession. The award recognizes accomplishments and strategic activities and initiatives that enhance the human resources profession. The Vermont State Council will receive recognition in SHRM publications and conferences, a certificate of recognition, and a special banner.

Melissa Norman, Vermont State Council Director, shared, “Our success is directly attributed to the hard work and dedication of our volunteers. Despite being a small state, we show-up, compete, and achieve--just as if we had the resources of much larger states. This proves the independent and volunteering spirit, for which our Green Mountain State is known, is thriving within Human Resources!”

The Vermont State Council, along with its three local, affiliated SHRM Chapters, is being recognized as a thought leader in an ever-changing landscape, providing resources that empower HR leaders to develop and strengthen business practices that are competitive and relevant for their organizations. The Council serves as a conduit for HR leaders to grow their knowledge and visibility by supporting local chapter members, promoting the HR profession and its strategic partnerships within Vermont businesses and communities. Furthermore, the Council provides leadership and development opportunities that advance and empower HR leaders throughout the state through outreach and strategic initiatives.

“SHRM rewards chapters and councils that demonstrate a strong commitment to advancing the human resources profession through service to the community, local networking and professional development activities,” said Henry (Hank) G. Jackson, president and CEO of SHRM. “Advancing the HR profession is at the heart of what SHRM does and Vermont State Council’s work this year helps us further showcase that mission.”
