Nurse Practitioner Robin Frantz recently joined University of Vermont Health Network - Central Vermont Medical Center Integrative Family Medicine Montpelier. The practice specializes in family medicine, using both conventional and alternative therapies for children and adults.

Phoenix Books adds Misty Valley Books in Chester to its growing family of stores

The owners of Phoenix Books, an independent bookstore with locations in Essex, Burlington and Rutland, have purchased Chester's Misty Valley Books. Michael DeSanto and Renee Reiner met with Lynne and Bill Reed - who bought the Chester landmark in 2001 - for the closing recently. "Twenty-one years ago," says Reiner, "as Mike and I embarked on this adventure, we considered buying Misty Valley Books from the original owners, Dwight Currie and Michael Kohlmann. So it feels like we've come full circle. We are so delighted to have Misty Valley as part of our Phoenix family!"

Lanza-Weil comes to the Loan Fund with extensive experience in both the nonprofit and commercial lending sectors.

Getting his start underwriting consumer loans at a community bank in California, Lanza-Weil spent a decade underwriting business loans for US Bank in Portland, Oregon before transitioning to nonprofits.

HCRS names SallyAnn Silfies to board of directors

Health Care and Rehabilitation Services (HCRS), Vermont’s second largest community mental-health agency, announced today that it has elected SallyAnn Silfies to its Board of Directors. The agency will look to Silfies for unique perspectives based on her decade of service as an HCRS employee.

Silfies worked for 10 years in the agency’s Children, Youth, and Families program, from which she retired in 2013. She currently serves as Pastor of the Greater Hartford United Church of Christ in Hartford, Vermont.

Grace Cottage welcomes new board members

Grace Cottage Hospital announces the appointment of two new board members, Ed Druke of Newfane to the Grace Cottage Hospital Board of Trustees, and Suzanne Welch of Grafton, to the Grace Cottage Foundation Board. Druke is no stranger to Grace Cottage; he was born there, as were his two sons. After working at Northeast Well Drilling and then at Tri-State Automotive, Druke accepted a job at WW Building Supply, which has locations in Newfane and in Wilmington. Together with his wife Terri, Druke purchased the business in 2005.
