UVM Health Network – Central Vermont Medical Center honors nurses

University of Vermont Health Network – Central Vermont Medical Center (CVMC) honored three nurses and two licensed nursing assistants during the 15th annual Rose Black Nursing Excellence Awards and LNA Excellence in Clinical Practice Awards. The nursing award, established by the family of former patient Rose Black, recognizes dependable, compassionate and nurturing team players who demonstrate excellent care with a bright and positive attitude. Both awards honor exemplary communication and patient skills. Recipients are nominated by their peers.

New employee joins Winooski Insurance

Winooski Insurance has hired Lynette Loges as its newest Commercial Lines Assistant. Loges is " thrilled with the opportunity to join a team of people so dedicated to the provision of quality insurance and support ". Twenty-six years of management and human services experience in addition to eighteen years of property management assist Loges in her new role. Twenty-one of these years have involved supporting individuals and families of Chittenden County. Loges has a BS degree from the University of Illinois in addition to some graduate level course work in business administration.

American Geriatric Society opens 2016 annual meeting welcoming second nurse president

As more than 2,000 geriatrics experts prepare to converge on the West Coast to advance quality care for older adults, they will also toast the expanding professional breadth of geriatrics itself: Ellen Flaherty, PhD, APRN, AGSF, a member of the American Geriatrics Society (AGS) for nearly two decades, will become the Society’s 63rd President at the start of the 2016 AGS Annual Scientific Meeting, held May 19-21 at the Long Beach Convention and Entertainment Center in Long Beach, Calif.
