City Market welcomes new leadership

City Market’s General Manager, John Tashiro, announced several new hires at the leadership team level recently. City Market plans to open their second location in the South End of Burlington in the fall of 2017. In addition, they are planning to launch an online ordering system for delivery and pick-up of groceries as well as working toward opening a third store in the Old North End of Burlington. For these reasons, they’ve been working with staff on a process of organizational evolution that will support a multi-store Co-op.

Thierry Uwilingiyimana joins SchoolHack Solutions

Thierry Uwilingiyimana, was recently hired as Product Director of SchoolHack Solutions of Bristol, VT. “Thierry’s strong technical background combined with his deep understanding of learner-centered education and design thinking will add tremendous value to our team”, says David Lipkin, CEO of SchoolHack Solutions. As an edupreneur, Thierry comes to SchoolHack as a former-founder and leader of two education startups. He co-founded ClassTracks, Inc., an online vocabulary software for English Language Learners and students with limited English proficiency.

Andrew Cowder, MD, joins Anthony Donaldson, MD, at SVMC Urology

Southwestern Vermont Medical Center (SVMC) and Anthony Donaldson, MD, are pleased to announce that Andrew Cowder, MD, has joined Dartmouth-Hitchcock Putnam Medical Group and SVMC Urology. The two will practice in Suite 100 of the Medical Office Building at 140 Hospital Drive in Bennington. “Dr Donaldson and I have worked in close cooperation with one another and have shared an office space for the past several years,” Cowder said. “The move to join Dartmouth-Hitchcock Putnam Physicians will relate to greater efficiency.

Murray, Outright's Director of 7 Years, announces resignation

Melissa Murray, Outright Vermont's Executive Director for the last seven years, announced her resignation last week. Melissa is leaving to take a position at the University of Vermont. Melissa has led Outright through a period of incredible growth. Melissa started Outright's advocacy work, helped grow the Vermont GSA Network from 25 to 70 GSAs in schools statewide, and established strong collaborative partnerships with a variety of organizations. She co-founded two of Outright's most innovative programs, Camp Outright and Gender Creative Kids.

Newhall named January Employee of the Month at MAHHC

Mt Ascutney Hospital and Health Center (MAHHC) has named James Newhall, who works in the Hospital’s Housekeeping Department, as Employee of the Month for January, 2017. “James is great at his job,” says John Frisbee, II, Multi-Service General Manager for Mt Ascutney Hospital. “He’s kind, enthusiastic and is always ready to help. James is a great addition to our team, ensuring our buildings are always clean, well stocked, and ready to serve the MAHHC staff and public. His positive attitude is known by all and his quick response to housekeeping needs is a welcome relief.

Kvasnak joins VHFA as Manager Of Business Development – Homeownership

Executive Director Sarah Carpenter announced Heather Kvasnak joined the Agency in the position of Manager of Business Development - Homeownership. Heather has a background in mortgage lending as well as regulatory and compliance requirements. Her previous positions with Wells Fargo and Bank of America required Heather to conduct trainings for diverse audiences.

Heather resides in Fairfax, Vermont and joined the Agency on Friday, February 17th.

Wounded Warrior Project veterans hit slopes at Pico Mountain

An abundance of snow and chilly temperatures could not keep Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) veterans away from the slopes of Pico Mountain recently. Participants skied, rode snowboards, and enjoyed the benefits of getting out of the house and connecting with fellow service members. Warriors and guests arrived at the mountain early, eager to obtain their equipment and conquer the snowy peaks. Many participants were beginners, so the bunny slope was busy throughout the day. Only an afternoon trip to the Slopeside Grill for lunch interrupted the action.
