Candace Page inducted into the New England Newspaper Hall of Fame
Vermont journalist Candace Page has been inducted into the New England Newspaper Hall of Fame. Formerly of the Burlington Free Press, the Seven Days editor was recognized at the annual convention of the New England Newspaper and Press Association. “I can’t think of another living Vermont journalist who is more deserving of the honor,” said Seven Days publisher and coeditor Paula Routly, who nominated Page for the distinction and spoke on her behalf at the hall-of-fame dinner last Friday night in Boston.
Brattleboro Retreat appoints new Chief Medical Officer
The Brattleboro Retreat is pleased to announce the appointment of Mark McGee, MD, as the hospital’s new Chief Medical Officer (CMO). McGee takes over the job from Frederick “Fritz” Engstrom, MD, who has retired from his role as CMO but will remain on the Retreat’s medical staff. “Dr McGee has served in a variety of roles here at the Retreat—from outpatient to inpatient—and has taken the lead on a number of important initiatives aimed at improving access to high-quality psychiatric and addiction care,” said Louis Josephson, president and chief executive officer.
Underhill resident launches new company in speech at SXSW conference
David Weaver, a seasoned marketing strategist based in Underhill, is using his upcoming speech at the SXSW Conference in Austin, Texas to launch his new firm that focuses on marketing advice and counsel for growing businesses. Since the summer of 2015, Mr Weaver has been working remotely in Vermont for Barkley, an advertising firm based in Kansas City, Missouri. Working on such well-known brands as Hershey, Cargill, Applebee's, and Wawa; Mr Weaver has been providing strategic counsel to large-scale brands from coast-to-coast.
Anesthesiology Associates of Bennington welcomes new doctor
Anesthesiology Associates of Bennington has announced the appointment of Patrick Wolfgang, MD. Wolfgang received his medical degree from Saint George’s University School of Medicine in Grenada in 2012 and completed an anesthesiology residency with Virginia Commonwealth University Health System in 2016. Since August, he has worked as a staff anesthesiologist at Pikeville Medical Center in Pikeville, Kentucky.
