Vermont women’s mentoring program training for new mentors at Mercy Connections

January is National Mentoring Month and Mercy Connections continues to partner with the Vermont Department of Corrections to mentor women making the transition from Vermont’s correctional facilities back into the community. These women face significant barriers and mentors have a profound influence on supporting individual women as they work to rebuild their lives.

True is joining Heady Vermont

Morgan True is joining Heady Vermont as a writer and editor. He brings more than five years of journalism experience to Heady’s editorial team, most recently as Burlington bureau chief for VTDigger.org. Before that, Morgan was VTDigger’s health care beat reporter. He graduated from Boston University in 2012 with a bachelor of science in journalism, and spent the next several years working for newspapers in Massachusetts and as a legislative relief reporter for the Associated Press in New Hampshire.

UVM Medical Center announces new position and new hire

Rehabilitation Therapy at UVM Medical Center is pleased to announce that Jennifer Levy has accepted the position of Clinical Lead Physical Therapist for Rehabilitation Therapy Satellite clinics. Jennifer has been a part of the UVM Medical Center for almost 15 years, specializing in outpatient orthopedics and working primarily at our South Burlington Family Medicine facility. Jennifer enjoys treating patients of all ages and abilities and utilizes psychologically informed physical therapy, manual therapy, therapeutic exercise and education to help each patient reach his or her goals.

Governor Phil Scott appoints 24 to boards and commissions in December

Governor Phil Scott today announced the appointment of 24 Vermonters to State boards and commissions, made in the month of December. Boards and commissions serve an important role in state government, giving Vermonters numerous opportunities to serve their state and communities. The Governor’s office is currently soliciting applications to fill vacancies and upcoming term expirations.

VFCU named a VHFA top performer in 2017

Vermont Federal Credit Union was named the top credit union performer of 2017 with staff member Patricia Boyce ranked as the top credit union Mortgage Originator. VHFA’s Top Performers recognizes organizations and individuals who had the highest VHFA production from January 1st through December 31st, 2017. Vermont Federal Credit Union was ranked first among credit unions and third amongst all VHFA participating lenders. Patricia Boyce, Mortgage Originator at the Credit Union, was ranked second among all Mortgage Originators and first for credit unions.

Michael Gaines joins VHB as Survey Crew Chief

Michael Gains has joined VHB as a Survey Crew Chief in the firm’s South Burlington, Vermont office. Gains will be responsible for the day to day operations of the Vermont office’s survey field crew including directing activities of the survey team, training team members on proper field procedures and methods, maintaining proper care of survey equipment, performing research, processing field files, checking and adjusting survey data.

Francis Fan joins VHB as an IT Service Specialist

Francis Fan has joined VHB as an Information Technology (IT) Service Specialist in the firm’s South Burlington, Vermont office. He will support the IT needs of VHB’s South Burlington, Vermont and Albany, New York offices. Fan brings diverse experience in IT support including hardware & software installation, training, troubleshooting, repair and maintenance; and network support. Fan holds a BS in Mathematics from the University of Connecticut.

Norwich promotes Murphy-Moriarty to VP of Communications

Norwich University President Richard W Schneider announced the promotion of Kathleen Murphy-Moriarty to Vice President of Communications beginning Jan 1, 2018. Murphy-Moriarty has led Norwich University’s Office of Communications since August 2013, when she was hired as Director of Communications and Marketing. She had previously served as Chief Marketing Officer for the State of Vermont.
