Green Mountain Council honors three with Silver Beaver Award

The Green Mountain Council, BSA recently honored three longtime scouting volunteers at their annual meeting at the Barre Elks Club with the Silver Beaver Award, the highest award that can be bestowed on a volunteer for distinguished service at the local council level. Introduced in 1931, the Silver Beaver Award recognizes registered adult Scouters who have made an impact on the lives of youth through service given to the council. The award is given, not earned and marks the substantial generosity of candidates in bettering the lives of youth in Vermont.

Green Mountain Council elects new officers; recognizes new troops for girls

The Green Mountain Council of the Boy Scouts of America recently elected Dave McAllister and eleven other community leaders to serve as officers for the 2019-20 council year. The elections were held at the Barre Elks Club, where the Council membership celebrated its history and its future as an organization for all youth, regardless of gender, for success as adults.

ValleyNet hires Recchia as Managing Director

BAYADA Hospice recognizes Jeanette Leavitt, RN during nurses week

In honor of National Nurses Week, which runs from May 6-12 (Florence Nightingale’s birthday) to honor and recognize the contribution of all nurses, BAYADA Hospice in Norwich, VT recognizes all hospice nurses who make a difference in their patients’ lives. One nurse in particular, office clinical manager Jeanette Leavitt, RN, was recently recognized as a finalist for BAYADA’s prestigious Ann Baiada Award for Excellence in Nursing Leadership—a national award. Leavitt, a resident of White River Junction, VT, was nominated for exemplifying the highest standards of nursing excellence.
