Vermont Arts Council announces Creation Grants to fifteen outstanding artists
The Vermont Arts Council awarded Creation Grants to fifteen artists across the state, enabling recipients to spend more time in the studio, purchase materials, or rent rehearsal space--all with the goal of creating new work. For example, Brett Stanciu received support to write a nonfiction narrative about heroin addiction in a small town in Vermont. Evan Premo will use his grant to create a musical composition based on Hans Christian Andersen's Thumbelina.
Castleton University names Mauhs-Pugh as Provost
Castleton is pleased to announce Dr. Thomas Mauhs-Pugh has joined the University as Provost. In this role, Dr. Mauhs-Pugh will act as chief academic officer and oversee all of the University's academic affairs. Additionally, Dr. Jonathan Spiro will serve as dean of the College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences. Cathy Kozlik and Dr. Peter Kimmel have been appointed to serve as interim deans of the College of Business and the College of Health and Sciences, respectively.
Attorney Deveneau joins Chamber board
The Bennington Regional Chamber of Commerce has added Attorney William C. Deveneau to its board of directors effective immediately. Deveneau is an attorney and tax consultant having lived in Bennington, Vermont since 2004. Before embarking on an entrepreneurial journey where he founded Veracity Financial Group LLC, a law practice, along with multiple e-commerce ventures, he was a Vermont State Trooper.
SVMC welcomes Duquette as Emergency Physician
Southwestern Vermont Medical Center (SVMC) is pleased to welcome Erin Duquette, MD, to the SVMC Emergency Department. Dr. Duquette is board certified by the American Board of Emergency Medicine. Dr. Duquette received her doctor of allopathic medicine degree from the State University of New York (SUNY) at Buffalo, School of Medicine, and completed a fellowship in Social Emergency Medicine and Population Health at Stanford University in California. In addition, she completed a residency in Emergency Medicine at the University of Tennessee.
Announcing 2019 Vermont Ski & Snowboard Hall of Fame inductees
The who's who of Vermont's ski and snowboarding world will gather at The Lodge at Spruce Peak in Stowe on Saturday, November 2nd for a festive dinner and silent auction to celebrate the Induction of the class of 2019 into the Vermont Ski and Snowboard Hall of Fame. The event, hosted by the Vermont Ski and Snowboard Museum in Stowe, will also honor the recipients of the Paul Robbins Award and First Tracks Award. One of the highlights of the evening will be the showing of short biographical films created for each inductee.
