
The Bennington Regional Chamber of Commerce has added Attorney William C. Deveneau to its board of directors effective immediately. Deveneau is an attorney and tax consultant having lived in Bennington, Vermont since 2004. Before embarking on an entrepreneurial journey where he founded Veracity Financial Group LLC, a law practice, along with multiple e-commerce ventures, he was a Vermont State Trooper. Deveneau’s law practice focuses on tax, estate planning, probate, and business matters while his consulting firm focuses on tax, financial analysis, interim CFO services and business turnarounds & restructuring.
“Bill comes to us with an amazing background and experience that this chamber is fortunate to have,” remarked Matt Harrington, executive director of the regional chamber. “I have known Bill personally and professionally for many years now and he is top notch in his area of expertise. He began working with the chamber in our finance committee, while also providing our members with a Lunch and Learn program focused on small business financing. From there, the finance committee made a recommendation for Bill to join the board fully.”
While in law school Deveneau’s focus was on taxation and estate planning. “I found this to be some of the most interesting, yet complex areas of the law,” states Deveneau. Due to his focus and efforts, Deveneau was selected as the recipient for two awards based on GPA for Estate Planning and Corporate Law and Taxation. “I was humbled and proud to have received award for the areas I cared about the most.”
Deveneau received his education from Mount Wachusett Community College, Empire State College, the University of Massachusetts – Lowell, and Albany Law School.
While note running multiple businesses or serving on the chamber board, Deveneau serves on the Bennington Rotary Club, Bennington Project Independence, the Bennington Museum and Shires Housing.

Bill’s professional experience and dedication to our community will be invaluable in the years to come as we continue to grow and develop new ways of working together for the betterment of the greater Bennington area,” stated Brian Maggiotto, the president of the chamber board of directors.

The region is in a great spot to move forward and grow and I am excited to see where we go from here.”
