Vermont Business Relief Program receives national award

Vermont’s Regional Development Corporations (RDCs) received a 2021 Aliceann Wohlbruck Impact Award from the National Association of Development Organizations (NADO). This national award recognizes the 12 RDCs of Vermont that make up the state’s economic development network, for the innovative Restart Vermont Technical Assistance Program (ReVTA). During the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, ReVTA provided 512 businesses and non-profits with technical assistance, 401 of which also received grants that enabled them to recover from the pandemic impacts and pivot towards the future.

United Way welcomes new leadership

Donna Austin-Hawley is the new president of the United Way of Northwest Vermont board of directors. Austin-Hawley assumed her new responsibilities on Tuesday, replacing Chris Lyon, who is stepping down after six years on the board, one as chair. Lyon, a longtime executive at Seventh Generation, has accepted a new professional position in Maine.

Lund staff wins national Angels in Adoption Award

Graham Kidder, of Jacksonville, Vermont, was selected as this year’s Angels in Adoption Award winner. Graham has served as a Permanency Planning Counselor for the past twenty years and as a Wendy’s Wonderful Kids Recruiter for the last five and a half years. This annual award is presented by the Congressional Coalition on Adoption Institute (CCAI) to individuals, couples, families, and organizations across the nation who have made extraordinary contributions on behalf of children and families in need.

UVMMC announces new VP of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion

UVM Medical Center announced that Marissa Coleman, PsyD, has accepted the position as the organization’s first Vice President of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI). A psychologist at UVM Medical Center since 2018 and a daughter of a Jamaican immigrant, Coleman has served as Senior DEI Advisor for the past year, and will begin in her new role on September 20. In addition to serving in this leadership role, she will continue to see a limited number of patients and supervise pre-doctoral psychology residents.

Northfield Savings Bank announces Richmond branch opening

Northfield Savings Bank (NSB) is pleased to announce the opening of a new temporary branch office in Richmond Vermont at 53 Railroad Street. The new location opened its doors to the public on July 1. The new Richmond location offers business hours 8:30-5:00, Monday through Friday. The temporary branch is equipped to accommodates three NSB bankers and an equivalent number of customers at one time. There are five parking spaces at the site for customers, one accessible to an entry ramp; all to be shared among NSB and Jamieson Insurance customers.
