Governor announces leadership appointments in Department of Financial Regulation

Governor Phil Scott has appointed Kevin Gaffney as commissioner of the Department of Financial Regulation and Emily Brown as the department’s deputy commissioner of insurance.

Gaffney has served as interim commissioner since May 5, and as deputy commissioner of insurance since 2019. Prior to that, he had roles of increasing responsibility within the department for more than a decade. Brown most recently served as the director of insurance regulation at DFR, focusing on health care policy and coverage issues.

Stanford’s Aslakson appointed chair of anesthesiology at UVM Larner College of Medicine

Rebecca Aslakson, MD, PhD, an anesthesiologist and expert in palliative care, has been appointed as the next chair of the Department of Anesthesiology at the Larner College of Medicine at the University of Vermont, effective Sept 1. In her new role, Aslakson will lead a department of 59 faculty, 32 advanced practice providers, 22 residents and six staff whose mission is to deliver state-of-the-art anesthesia services to patients, conduct groundbreaking research, and provide exceptional education to the next generation of anesthesiology providers.

SE Group's Humber receives top honor from national landscape architecture group

SE Group’s Claire Humber has been elevated to the American Society of Landscape Architect’s Council of Fellows, along with 27 other members. Election to the council is among the highest honors the ASLA bestows on its members for their career contributions and achievements within the industry.

Humber joined SE Group — an industry leader in the planning, designing, and permitting of mountain resorts and recreation destinations — in 1991 and has been driving the evolution of the ski industry ever since.
