AOT: Construction update on North Hero-Grand Isle drawbridge

Vermont Business Magazine US Route 2 at the temporary drawbridge is open to two lanes of traffic. The contractor is generally working from 6:30 AM to 5:30 PM, Monday through Saturday.
The temporary bridge has a speed limit of 25 mph. There are tight curves approaching the temporary bridge, and trucks are advised to reduce speed to 15 mph. Bicycles should use caution while crossing the bridge.
The work zone speed limit is enforced, and individuals have been ticketed for excessive speeding. Obeying the speed limit is extremely important for everyone's safety.
NOTICE TO MARINERS: During the construction one leaf will remain closed reducing the horizontal clearance through the bridge to 40 feet. Due to the reduction only one way traffic through the bridge will be permitted. A traffic control vessel will be on-scene to ensure vessel meeting and overtaking situations are avoided while approaching and transiting through the bridge. Mariners are advised to contact the bridge tender for transit instructions via Channel 13 or by calling (802) 372-4360.
Mariners are advised to plan their transits accordingly and exercise caution when transiting the area. Chart 14781 LNM 21/22 (CGD1)
CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES: Next week on the west side of the existing bridge, the contractor will prepare the approach slab seat, back wall, and curb for concrete pours.
On the east side of the existing bridge, the contractor stripped the forms from the abutment footing and began installing reinforcing steel and formwork for the abutment walls. They also removed the bascule deck formwork, and began to prepare for raising this side of the bridge span. The contractor is tentatively planning to raise this span on Tuesday (7/12), and then will subsequently lower the west bascule span.
