Addison County Economic Development Corporation Vermont businesses, municipalities, and nonprofit organizations seeking cleaner transportation options may now apply for the Electrify Your Fleet incentive program to support the transition to plug-in electric fleet vehicles. Applicants may receive up to $2,500 for each internal combustion engine vehicle replaced or avoided (maximum of 20 incentives allowed per fleet). Awards may be applied toward the purchase or lease of new plug-in electric vehicles (PEVs), electric bicycles, electric cargo bicycles, adaptive electric bicycles, electric motorcycles, or electric snowmobiles.

Amanda went back to the market to show Peggy the sweater she had made. Vermont Business Magazine The Vermont Italian Cultural Association (VICA) has announced that its Scholarships and Grants Program, which seeks to promote and preserve Italian heritage and culture in Vermont, began accepting applications starting November 1, 2023. The VICA Scholarships and Grants program provides up to $1,500 in funding to three individuals who are seeking to broaden and then share the results of their project which could include exploring the Italian American experience, the Italian experience, Italian language, arts, music, history, and culture.

Vermont Business Magazine Last week, PC Construction accepted a national award from the Construction Management Association of America (CMAA) for One Spruce Peak, a residential mountain retreat at the base of Stowe, Vermont’s popular Spruce Peak ski resort. This marks the second national award and the fourth major recognition for the project, which was completed in 2022. The $46.5 million, six-story, 125,000-square-foot facility includes 27 ski-in/ski-out residences, townhomes, and penthouses. Units feature in-residence elevators, spacious balconies with mountain views, sweeping floor-to-ceiling windows, and best-in-class materials and finishes.
Vermont Business Magazine The Burke Area Chamber of Commerce began a new tradition at their Annual Meeting of Members held at Burke Mountain Hotel on November 6th. Burke Chamber President, John Kascenska presented the first ever Business of the Year award to Mike’s Gas & Redemption of West Burke. Store owners Mike and Dianna Cole along with several of their staff and family members attended the event. Mike Cole gave a proud smile as he accepted the award and thanked the Chamber, later proclaiming, “We love Burke!”

Vermont Business Magazine Price Chopper/Market 32 is once again playing host to the Salvation Army’s “Red Kettle” holiday campaign at all 130 of its stores in New York, Vermont, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts and New Hampshire. The Salvation Army and Price Chopper/Market 32 have been collaborative partners in the communities they serve for more than 35 years. Last year’s “Red Kettle” campaign at Price Chopper and Market 32 stores raised nearly $500,000 in donations directly benefitting those in need throughout the communities where the funds were collected.
Vermont Business Magazine The Vermont Historical Society and Vermont Covered have announced the Vermont 250th Community Planning Grants program as part of work in support of the Vermont 250th Anniversary Commission. The grants are available to select communities in areas of limited broadband and wireless connectivity around the state to help support activities in planning and preparation for the US Semiquincentennial (250th) in 2026. The Vermont 250th Anniversary Commission (VT250th), tasked by Governor Phil Scott, is working to create opportunities for Vermonters to mark this anniversary.
The Vermont State Police is identifying the victim of Wednesday night’s shooting in Hardwick as Robert Marquis, 52, who owns the home at 76 Elm St. where the incident occurred. Marquis remains hospitalized as of 5 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 9, 2023, at the University of Vermont Medical Center in Burlington, where he is listed in critical condition with life-threatening injuries. The suspect in the shooting is Donald Brochu Jr., 55, who was renting a room in Marquis’ home.
