The Vermont Public Service Board (PSB) Monday issued its approval of Green Mountain Power Corporation's (NYSE: GMP) proposed agreement and plan of merger with Northern New England Energy Corporation (NNEEC) and its wholly-owned subsidiary Northstars Merger Subsidiary Corporation. The decision is the final regulatory approval necessary for the transaction, which is expected to close in the second quarter of 2007.

This 23rd annual exposition of business resources and networking opportunities will take place at the Sheraton Hotel & Conference Center in Burlington, VT.
One of the new events this year is the KPMG / Northfield Savings Bank Business Breakfast, kicking off the two-day festivities.
The event this year will feature Mr. Alex Wolff, senior writer for Sports Illustrated and President and General Manager of the ABA's Vermont Frost Heaves.

PSB approves acquisition of GMP by Gaz Metro subsidiary
The Vermont Public Service Board (PSB) Monday issued its approval of Green Mountain Power Corporation's (NYSE: GMP) proposed agreement and plan of merger with Northern New England Energy Corporation (NNEEC) and its wholly-owned subsidiary Northstars Merger Subsidiary Corporation. The decision is the final regulatory approval necessary for the transaction, which is expected to close in the second quarter of 2007.
In its unanimous approval order, the PSB said it concluded the transaction "will promote the general good of the State." It also stated that "NNEEC also has a proven record of technical, financial and managerial competency through its twenty-year ownership of Vermont Gas Systems, Inc. & NNEEC and its parent, Gaz Métro, have a well-documented and an established track record for operating regulated and unregulated businesses in Vermont."

Berlin, Vermont - Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Vermont and its 350+ employees will join Blue plans across the country in hosting the first annual National Walk @ Lunch DaySM on April 18, 2007.
Walk @ Lunch Day is a workplace walking program, which encourages people to take time during their lunch breaks to start walking toward better health and is nationally sponsored by the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association.
Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Vermont will hold special events in Burlington, Montpelier and Rutland; BCBSVT representatives expect thousands of Vermonters to participate.

The network will promote economic development in rural Vermont communities
St. Albans, VT (March 19, 2007) Northern Enterprises, Inc., a 501(C)3 non-profit organization is pleased to announce that a Vermont Company, Clifford of Vermont, will be awarded a fiber optic cable purchase agreement for the Northeast Kingdom portion of the North-Link network.
The North-Link project is a 400-mile open access fiber optic network covering eight counties where there are limited, affordable broadband communication services.
The North-Link network will provide this rural region an affordable backbone for high-speed Internet access allowing for economic growth, development, and sustainability.

BURLINGTON, Vt.--Champlain College will confer honorary degrees on two prominent Vermont residents at its 129th Commencement on May 5, 2007. The Board of Trustees of Champlain College selected retiring Saint Michael's College President Marc A. vanderHeyden and Champlain College Trustee Emeritus Lola P. Aiken for this honor.
Aiken and vanderHeyden will be awarded honorary doctoral degrees from the private, professionally focused college.
Additionally, vanderHeyden will deliver the Commencement Address at Champlain College's ceremony.
"These two individuals come from very different backgrounds, but they both have created positive changes in Vermont's cultural, historical and educational landscapes," said Champlain College President David F. Finney.
"At Commencement time, we're pleased to honor their many contributions while reminding our graduates that they also have the power to make indelible marks on their communities and the world."
