AllEarth Renewables has announced the hiring of Jessica Izzo Wakefield to its accounting team.

Wakefield, whose career has included work in customer and administrative services, joins the company as a staff accountant. Wakefield, of Winooski, earned a bachelor’s of arts in psychology from Siena College.

As opiate drug abuse has become an increasing problem in many Vermont communities, two Mt. Ascutney Hospital doctors have created a project aimed at caring for mothers and infants who are addicted, or at-risk. Pediatricians Kimberly Aakre, MD and Mary Bender, MD, were recently awarded a $10,000 grant from the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), in support of their project.

Today that mentor, Dr. Lou DiNicola, is not only her colleague but her father-in-law.

Four UVM students have been awarded prestigious Fulbright U.S. Student grants for the coming academic year. Three of the students are members of the Class of 2015: Stephanie Burrows, Benjamin Teasdale and Meg Ziegler. The fourth Fulbright recipient this year is Lindsey Ruhl, who graduated with a master’s degree in soil science last December.

Sterling College has announced the appointment of Christopher W Bordeau as the new director of advancement & alumni relations.
