Vermont Electric Power Company announced the election of Colin Owyang as senior vice president following a unanimous vote of the company’s board of directors. This is a return engagement for Owyang, who previously served as VELCO’s senior vice president, corporate secretary and general counsel before leaving in 2019 for a position at Franklin Energy.

The University of Vermont Medical Center Board of Trustees has added Shelburne resident and attorney Meg O’Donnell to its board of trustees. O’Donnell is active with several local organizations working to improve the health and well-being of people in the region.

Vermont Law School has named Beth Locker as its new associate dean for experiential learning, an appointment that adds dean-level leadership to the school’s experiential and clinical programs and recognizes the critical role of experiential learning in legal education.

Comcast has named Saif Malik as vice president of finance for the company’s Western New England region, which serves more than 300 communities across Connecticut, western Massachusetts, Vermont, western New Hampshire and New York.

Travis Thomason, director for the Pacific Islands Area at the US Department of Agriculture's Natural Resources Conservation Service, has been named state conservationist for NRCS-Vermont. He succeeds Vicky Drew, who retired last July after nearly 38 years of service.

Max Rooney, former financial consultant for Fidelity Investments, has joined People’s United Advisors in Burlington as senior vice president and senior relationship manager. In his new role, Rooney will be responsible for managing client relationships throughout the state of Vermont.

The University of Vermont Health Network has elected three new members to four-year terms on its board of trustees. They are Noma Anderson, Carol Haraden and Betsy Vicencio.

Springfield airline pilot and certified flight instructor Bill Batesole has received the Federal Aviation Administration’s Wright Brothers Master Pilot Award, the most prestigious award the FAA issues to pilots. The award recognizes individuals who have exhibited exemplary aviation expertise, distinguished professionalism and steadfast commitment for at least 50 years.

Cathy Planchart, former vice president and product and segment marketing manager at Bar Harbor Bank & Trust, has joined Sundin Marketing as account executive and marketing strategist. In her new role, Planchart covers Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine and works with many Vermont financial institutions.
