Vermont Technical College President Philip A. Conroy has announced that former Vermont Secretary of Agriculture, Food and Markets, Roger N. Allbee, has been named consultant and advisor to the President and the College.

Deputy Commissioner Rae Ann Knopf has been named as the first Executive Director for The Connecticut Council for Education Reform (CCER). She will be leaving her current post as the Deputy Commissioner of Education Transformation and Innovation for the Vermont Department of Education in mid-January.

Virgin Holidays, part of Sir Richard Branson’s world-renowned Virgin Travel Group, has named the Green Mountain Inn ‘Best Hotel – Snow’ at the annual World Travel Market award ceremony in London this past November. Vermont Governor Peter Shumlin recently presented the award to Green Mountain Inn’s General Manager Ken Biederman and Innkeeper Patti Clark.

John P. McCarthy of St. Albans has been named Associate Director of Payroll Services for Saint Michael’s College. He started at the Catholic liberal arts institution January 3. Mr. McCarthy was senior accountant/payroll manager for the City of Burlington from 2008 to the present.

Gov. Peter Shumlin has announced the appointment of attorney Barry D. Peterson of Fletcher as Magistrate Judge of the Family Division of Vermont’s Superior Courts. Peterson has held the post in an acting capacity in Chittenden, Lamoille, and Franklin counties as needed in recent years.

The National Elder Law Foundation (NELF) – the only organization approved by the American Bar Association to offer certification in the area of elder law - has announced that Glenn A. Jarrett, Esq. of Burlington, Vermont has successfully completed its examination leading to such certification.

Dr. Hertford most recently worked as an Emergency Room Physician at Brattleboro Memorial Hospital, Brattleboro, VT, and prior to his tenure there, provided primary care, urgent care and emergency care to patients in facilities in Vermont, Maine and Pennsylvania.
