John P. McCarthy of St. Albans has been named Associate Director of Payroll Services for Saint Michael’s College. He started at the Catholic liberal arts institution January 3. Mr. McCarthy was senior accountant/payroll manager for the City of Burlington from 2008 to the present. He was an accountant for three law firms in Arkansas and Texas from 2000 to 2008, and before that, he served 20 years in Accounting and Finance Offices in the U.S. Air Force.
“I’ve heard a lot of good things about Saint Michael's College,” Mr. McCarthy said. “I’m looking forward to new challenges and new opportunities, and if possible, I hope to improve the payroll process to make it easier for the people of Saint Michael's College.”
Michael New, SMC vice president for human resources, expressed confidence in Mr. McCarthy’s expertise. “The payroll for Burlington approaches the complexity of Saint Michael’s with over 1,200 employees from Police, Firefighters, airport employees, summer life guards and everything in between.”
Mr. McCarthy and his wife Nancy McCarthy reside in the St. Albans area.
