At its 30th Annual Membership Meeting held at The Capitol Plaza, the Vermont Business Roundtable elected one new director to his first three-year term: Tom Dunn, Vermont Electric Power Company.

We wanted to take a moment to honor and thank Jan Steinbauer (left), who has been the Vermont Humanities Council's Director of Literacy Programs since 2005. Jan retired from the position at the end of 2016.

Lauren Tormey, MD, a board-certified gastroenterologist, has joined the staff of the Gastroenterology Department at Mt Ascutney Hospital and Health Center (MAHHC) where she will be performing colonoscopies, endoscopies, and outpatient consultations.

Rosemary Dougherty, a board-certified family nurse practitioner with more than 18 years experience, has joined the medical nursing staff at Mt Ascutney Hospital and Health Center (MAHHC). Most recently, Rosemary worked in a health center in Maine; she has also served as director and primary nurse practitioner for a New Hampshire university health service.

Beau Ties Ltd of Vermont has named Elizabeth Smith and Cy Day Tall as the company’s new Co-President / CEO. The pair will assume leadership over all corporate functions including merchandising, operations, production, marketing, technology, finance and sales.

Manufacturing Solutions, Inc (MSI), a full-scale contract manufacturing, logistics, and commercial leasing company, has announced Joni Gaines as their new Property Asset Manager.

Attorney Timothy S Sampson of Charlotte has been named a director of the northern New England law firm Downs Rachlin Martin PLLC. Sampson was elected at the firm’s annual meeting in December and became a director on Jan 1.

Environmentalists are nervous about climate change protections being rolled back under the incoming United States administration. However, Pavel Cenkl, Associate Dean of Academics at Sterling College in Vermont, will be expressly addressing climate change deniers as he sets out this August to attempt a record-setting 12-day, 500-mile solo run across Scandinavia.

DuBois & King consulting engineers announced that Loren Wehmeyer, PhD, PE, has joined the firm as Team Leader of the Water Resources Department.

Lisa Eaton has joined Grace Cottage as Chief Nursing Officer, replacing Jeanne Fortier, who retired and moved to Cape Cod. Most recently, Eaton was Director of Inpatient Services at Brattleboro Memorial Hospital, where she focused on patient education, patient satisfaction, streamlined billing, and staff development.
