The Board of Directors at Wake Robin, Vermont’s first lifecare community, announced yesterday that Patrick McKee will take over as President and CEO following Allie Stickney’s retirement next month. The Board of Directors, Wake Robin residents and staff thank Stickney for her 7 ½ years of dedicated service to the community, and are eager to begin the next chapter with McKee as leader.

Vermont Information Technology Leaders (VITL) today announced the appointment of Joanna Cummings to marketing manager. In this newly created role, Cummings will be developing and managing marketing and outreach programs that create awareness of Vermont’s health information exchange and eHealth service offerings provided by VITL.

Two Lyndon State College Atmospheric Sciences students finished in first and third place in the year-long WxChallenge weather forecasting competition and another LSC student took gold the contest’s “postseason” tournament. LSC senior Edward Vallee finished in first place of the WxChallenge while junior A.J. Waterman landed in third; sophomore Scott Myerson won the postseason tournament.

After 45 years of practice, optometrist Dr. David Garbutt is retiring and transferring his practice to Dr. Francis (Frank) Pinard of Newport Optical. Dr. Pinard will begin seeing patients at 530 Washington Highway in Morrisville in early May. The Morrisville office will be a full-time second location for Dr. Pinard and his associates. First, M.D., M.S., F.A.A.P., professor and chair of pediatrics at the University of Vermont College of Medicine and chief of pediatrics at Vermont Children’s Hospital at Fletcher Allen Health Care, is the 2014 recipient of the Joseph W. St. Geme, Jr.

Gretchen Bailey, who heads the constituent casework team for U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), was honored today with a prestigious award for exemplary public service. The award was presented during a ceremony at the John F. Kennedy Library and Museum in Boston.
