Vermont Information Technology Leaders (VITL) names marketing manager

Vermont Information Technology Leaders (VITL) today announced the appointment of Joanna Cummings to marketing manager. In this newly created role, Cummings will be developing and managing marketing and outreach programs that create awareness of Vermont’s health information exchange and eHealth service offerings provided by VITL.

Cummings joins VITL from Champlain College where she managed the college’s conversion to a new learning management system. She has also held communications and marketing positions with The Snelling Center for Government, Mountain Lake PBS and VBT Bicycling Vacations. In addition, Cummings previously served as public information officer and webmaster for the Vermont Department of Health. She holds a Master of Science in Communications from Antioch University/New England, a Bachelor of Science from The Pennsylvania State University, and a certificate in Nonprofit Leadership and Management from Marlboro College. A resident of Charlotte, Cummings serves as co-chair of the Charlotte Conservation Commission, and is a member of the Lake Champlain Basin Program Education Advisory Committee.

Vermont Information Technology Leaders, Inc. (VITL) is a nonprofit organization that manages Vermont’s health information exchange (HIE), and assists health care providers statewide with the adoption and meaningful use of electronic health record (EHR) systems and other health information technology. The Vermont HIE connects EHR systems from the state’s hospitals, providers, independent practices, and other health care organizations in order to securely and effectively exchange patients’ clinical data to improve the quality of care delivery and reduce costs as well as to enhance patient safety and outcomes.
