Ashley retires after 53-year career with Freeman French Freeman

David Ashley, Senior Vice President of Freeman French Freeman, will reach two milestones May 13 – his 75th birthday and the day he retires after a 53-year career with Vermont’s oldest architectural firm.

David joined Freeman French Freeman in 1958 after graduating with a BA in architecture from Yale University. He is the only member of the firm to have worked with its founders: Bill Freeman, through the ’70s; John French, until he retired in ’67; and with Ruth Freeman, who died in ’71.

Dr. Clement-O’Brien named Nursing Chair at Southern Vermont College

Dr. Karen Clement-O’Brien, DNP, RN, the Director of the Center for Learning and Development (CLD) at Albany Medical Center (AMC), has been named Chair of the Nursing Division at Southern Vermont College. Although Dr. Clement-O’Brien will officially resume the Chair position on August 1, she will be on campus periodically before then for end-of-year student events and to participate in curriculum and new hiring decisions.

Josh Francis joins Bread Loaf Corporation

Bread Loaf is pleased to announce that Josh Francis has joined the Bread Loaf team as an Architectural Designer. He is a LEED Accredited Professional, an AIA Associate member and is pursuing his Architecture license through NCARB. After graduating from Middlebury Union High School, Josh studied at the Montana State University in Bozeman, Montana where he received a Bachelor of Environmental Design and a Master of Architecture.

Grace Spain joins Spike Advertising

Grace Spain has joined Spike Advertising in the newly created position of public relations and account associate. Grace will be tasked with developing additional in-house PR capacity for Spike and its client list. Prior to joining Spike, she interned with Burlington’s Community and Economic Development Office and the Burlington Community Justice Center. She will graduate from Champlain College this week with her bachelor’s degree in Public Relations.

New Executive Chef Appointed at Sheraton Burlington Hotel and Conference Center

Robert Burnetti, General Manager for Sheraton Burlington Hotel and Conference Center, has announced the appointment of Michael Breen, CEC as the hotel’s new Executive Chef. In this role he will oversee the culinary operations for the award-winning property.

Most recently, Chef Breen was the Executive Chef of Okemo Mountain Resort and Jackson Gore Inn, Ludlow, VT. Breen oversaw the culinary operations for an upscale American cuisine restaurant, five casual food outlets and a full-service banquet facility.
