Marion Milne reappointed to State Women’s Commission

Governor Peter Shumlin has reappointed Marion Milne of Washington to serve on the Vermont Commission on Women. The Vermont Commission on Women (VCW) is a non-partisan state agency dedicated to legislative, economic, social, and political fairness. Launched in 1964 by a call to action from President Kennedy, VCW is charged with reducing discrimination and encouraging opportunities for women and is one of many such commissions nationally.

St Michael’s names Dr. Brosh Teucher, Assistant Professor of Business Administration

Dr. Brosh Teucher, with a doctorate from the University of Washington, has been named Assistant Professor of Business Administration at Saint Michael's College. Dr. Teucher was Visiting Assistant Professor of Management and Organizations at the Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University, from 2009 to 2010.

Dr. Teucher, who has taught and published widely on negotiation, managerial dispute resolution, effective teamwork, and more, did military service in the Israeli Defense Forces as a Lieutenant from 1985 to 1989.

New State-of-the Art Retirement Community brings new residents and employment opportunities to Addison County

EastView celebrated its opening with a ribbon-cutting ceremony August 14th. The ceremony marked completion of construction of Vermont’s newest not-for-profit retirement community, begun in December 2010. Guests included residents, staff, EastView’s locally-based Board of Directors, lenders, and the Addison County Chamber of Commerce. EastView became fully operational in June, opening with more than seventy percent (70%) of its independent living cottages and apartments occupied or reserved.

Founder of adult education program Evalyn Bates to receive posthumous doctorate degree

It has been said that adult education as we know it would never have become a reality without Evalyn Bates. On September 30, Goddard College President Dr. Barbara Vacarr will present a posthumous Honorary Doctorate in Humane Letters to recognize Evalyn Bates’ unequaled legacy in higher education.

In 1937, Bates graduated from Goddard Junior College, then located in Barre, Vt. When Goddard became a four-year college at its current location in Plainfield in 1938, she continued her studies and, in 1943, was one of the first two graduates of Goddard College.

St Michael’s names Dr. Kacy Pula, assistant professor of psychology

Dr. Kacy Pula, who studies the connection between human behavior and the environment, was named Assistant Professor of Psychology at Saint Michael’s College, starting this fall. Dr. Pula earned her doctorate in experimental psychology from Washington State University in 2012. Her dissertation is titled “Regulatory Focus and Motives for Organic Food preferences in the United States.”
