Emily Dec, a Saint Michael's College senior majoring in both English and political science, was awarded a special gift as the top literature student for 2013, at a ceremony held on campus May 3. Every year U.S. District Court of Vermont Chief Judge Christina Reiss, herself a 1984 graduate of Saint Michael's College, awards a clock and a cash gift to a literature student, in honor of her father, the late Dr. John Reiss, a long-time professor of English at Saint Michael’s.
On Saturday, May 4th, a team of seven current and former employees of the Brattleboro Retreat ran in support of returning Iraq and Afghanistan veterans and their families as part of the 4th Annual Run-Walk to Home Base Presented by New Balance.
The event raises funds for the Red Sox Foundation and Massachusetts General Hospital Home Base Program, which serves returning Iraq and Afghanistan veterans and families affected by Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) through clinical care, community education, and research.

in arts administration and is an active vocal performer. Besides her work in the development and marketing efforts, she will be responsible for small ensemble booking and volunteer co-ordination.

Producers of four Vermont Public Television programs were notified April 30 that they received EMMY® Award nominations in the 36th annual competition. The Boston/New England chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences sponsors the awards, which honor programs made in 2012. Four nominations is a record for VPT, which has received multiple nominations and awards in past years. The awards will be given in Boston on June 1.
