Young Vermont teen entrepreneurs honored

On Monday afternoon, June 17th at a special awards’ reception at the VTC Williston Campus eight high school/technical center students from around the state were honored and received cash awards for their outstanding entrepreneurial business plan submissions in the 5th Annual VT REAL High School/Tech Center Entrepreneurship Business Plan Competition. Teachers, family and friends, school administrators, VtSBDC Advisors, judges, sponsors and other business representatives were present at the event.

KSV welcomes Tucker Wright to its brand team in Burlington

KSV, a Burlington-based marketing communications firm, welcomes Tucker Wright to its brand management team as a project coordinator.

Wright joins KSV immediately following his graduation from the University of Vermont, where he earned a degree in public communications from the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences. Over the past year, Wright served as an intern with the company, where he assisted the brand team with daily client management and research.

Emily Lourie, PT, DPT joins CVMC Rehabilitation Services Department

Emily Lourie, PT, DPT recently joined Central Vermont Medical Center’s Rehabilitation Services Department. She received her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from the University of New England, Portland, Maine. She previously worked at Sandy River Nursing Center, Genesis Health Care in Farmington, Maine.

“We are pleased to have been able to recruit a therapist with Emily’s education and expertise,” said Tricia Dwyer, PT, CVMC Manager of Rehabilitation Services. “Her specialties, including neuro-rehabilitation and geriatric care, fit well with our current case load.”

Garcia named Dean of UVM's College of Engineering and Mathematical Sciences

The University of Vermont announced today that Luis Garcia has been named dean of the College of Engineering and Mathematical Sciences. Garcia also will be named the Barrett Foundation Professor in the college. He begins work at UVM on Aug. 15.

Garcia, a highly accomplished administrator and researcher, is currently head of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Colorado State University, a position he has held since 2005, and is a professor in the department. Garcia joined the Colorado State University faculty in 1991.

C2, a Vermont-based technology consulting firm specializing in Internet business solutions and enterprise technology infrastructure, announced the addition of the following employees:

Ashley Wyckoff, Project Analyst, in her last position at Choice Strategies in Waterbury Center, she supervised the Installation Department and the Renewal and Plan Maintenance Department. Ashley attended UVM where she double majored in Community Development and Applied Economics with a focus in Entrepreneurship and Animal Science.
