National Bank of Middlebury creates new positions, names new officers, promotes from within

National Bank of Middlebury has created two significant new positions: Business Community Lender Northern Market Manager for Hinesburg, Vergennes and Bristol; and Business Community Lender Southern Market Manager for Brandon. Assistant Vice President Chris Lapierre will be assuming responsibilities for the northern tier of Hinesburg, Vergennes and Bristol; and Assistant Vice President Chris Carpenter will assume responsibilities for Brandon. Both have been Community Business Lenders in those areas.

VT/NH Marketing Group presents Lone Pine Awards

The VT/NH Marketing Group is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to promoting excellence in education and training for marketing in all channels and formats, and to achieving and upholding the highest ethical business standards. Each year the group presents its Lone Pine Award to acknowledge a person or persons that has supported the group through program attendance and/or given of their time to promote the activities of the organization. Two Lone Pine Awards were presented at the group’s 2013 annual conference, held June 5–7 in Whitefield, N.H.

Vermont couple donates specialized incubator for premature babies

Stephany and Bruce Hasse of Charlotte have made a large donation to Vermont Children’s Hospital at Fletcher Allen for the purchase of a high-tech incubator for use in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.

The “Giraffe OmniBed” has many advanced features that provide an optimal environment for neonatal patients including precise heat, humidity and oxygen control, a rotating mattress, and easier access for caregivers to perform procedures which can eliminate the need to move babies to another setting.

Norwich University announces new director for architecture and art program

Norwich University’s College of Professional Schools is pleased to announce the appointment of Cara Armstrong as interim director of the School of Architecture + Art, beginning July 1, 2013.

Armstrong received bachelor’s degrees in environmental design and philosophy from Miami University, a master’s degree in architecture from Columbia University, and an MFA in poetry from Drew University. She was awarded two fellowships for study in England and Canada.
