Schneider appointed Director of Cardiovascular Research Institute

The University of Vermont College of Medicine has announced that cardiologist and Professor of Medicine David Schneider, M.D., has been appointed director of the Cardiovascular Research Institute (CVRI). The director of cardiology in the department of medicine and medical director of cardiology at Fletcher Allen Health Care, Schneider will succeed CVRI founding director Burton Sobel, M.D., who passed away in spring 2013.

Prohibition Pig chef named Top Chef of the Champlain Valley

Michael Werneke of the Prohibition Pig was named the Top Chef of the Champlain Valley defeating Chef Shawn Calley of the Amuse at the Essex Resort & Spa ( 2011 & 2012 Top Chef winner) and Chef Marcus Hamblett of One Federal. The chefs competed in an iron chef inspired competition learning only moments before they started cooking that this year the secret ingredient was Switchback Ale and Switchback Roasted Red. Werneke impressed the judges with his success in incorporating the secret ingredient.

CVMC Rehab Back at Waterbury Medical Associates and adds Occupational Therapy

Lorelei Wyman, PT and Pamela Eldredge, PT have moved back to Waterbury Medical Associates at 130 South Main Street from their temporary clinic at the Thatcher Brook Inn. In addition, Lauren Briere, MS, OTR/L has joined the team.

Together they provide many of the specialties in Physical and Occupational Therapies from the newly renovated Waterbury office.

Occupational Therapy (OT) is available for patients seeking specialized treatment for upper extremity and repetitive stress injuries as well as neurological impairments affecting vision, cognition and daily activity.
