Women Helping Battered Women (WHBW), a community nonprofit that has helped victims of domestic abuse
in Vermont’s Chittenden County for over 40 years, announced today that Kelly Dougherty is joining the organization as its new Executive Director.
Two Vermont Law School graduates have joined the northern New England law firm Downs Rachlin Martin PLLC. Attorney J. Zaw Win has joined the Business Law Practice Group and will focus on serving the captive insurance industry. Attorney Joshua D. Leckey has joined the Energy and Telecommunications Group. Both will be based in DRM’s Burlington office.
Granite State Development Corporation (“GSDC”) announced that Ethan Swain has joined the firm as Vice President responsible for developing and managing lending partnerships and business relationships in Vermont. Ethan comes with a broad range of industry experience and as a Vermont native, he is passionate about the communities and local economy where he lives and works.
The Valley Business Journal concluded its annual “Best of the Best” Reader’s Choice Awards, with Mt. Ascutney Hospital and Health Center’s (MAHHC) Maggie Moore, winning the most votes in the category of “Best Nurse” in the Upper Valley region of Vermont/New Hampshire.
William Cruse has joined Davis & Hodgdon Associates CPAs as an Associate Accountant. William graduated from Champlain College with a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting where he acted as the Director of Finance for the Champlain student government and Vice President of the Rugby team. He is a member of the Vermont Society of CPAs and is preparing for the CPA exam. William currently resides in Burlington.
HowardCenter’s Board of Trustees today announced the appointment of Bob Bick as Executive Director, effective January 1, 2015. Bick has been the Director of HowardCenter’s Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services since1994—when an organization that he led for 10 years merged with two others to form the current-day HowardCenter.
The International Women’s Forum (IWF) has named Jan Blomstrann and eight other outstanding women leaders from around the world as “Women Who Make a Difference.” During the IWF 2014 World Leadership Conference on October 31, the organization paid tribute to the contributions that awardees have made toward improving society, inspiring others, and building better leadership in the world.

Over 5,500 employees across the globe volunteered on Stantec in the Community Day, including VT teams at Local Motion and Our Lady of Providence
Volunteers from local design firm Stantec spent hours Monday sprucing up donated bikes for Local Motion and landscaping for a Winooski senior living center as part of a company-wide day of service, Stantec in the Community Day. The day saw over 5,500 Stantec employees across the globe giving back to their communities.
