WallGoldfinger hires communications director

Robin Palmer has joined furniture innovator WallGoldfinger has its communications director.

A native of Randolph Center, Palmer holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism from St. Michael’s College in Colchester. She worked as a newspaper writer and editor in Vermont and Massachusetts for 15 years starting in her high school years, throughout college and beyond.

Her work earned her a variety of writing and photography awards.

WCAX-TV hires two reporters

WCAX News is pleased to announce two new hires. WCAX has hired two reporters to cover Vermont and New York for our TV and digital platforms.

Eliza Larson will become the Rutland Bureau Chief covering Southern Vermont for WCAX. Larson has a master's degree in journalism from Northwestern University. Larson received her undergraduate degree from Colby College in Maine. Larson is no stranger to Vermont. She has hiked the region's mountains and has played many soccer matches in Vermont as a goalie for Colby College.

Pete’s RV Center named to the 2014 Top Ten Club by Evergreen Recreation Vehicles

Pete’s RV Center was recently named to the 2014 Top Ten Club by Evergreen Recreation Vehicles. The honor goes to Pete’s RV for the combined sales of Evergreen RVs at their locations in South Burlington, Vermont and Schererville, Indiana.

“Cracking the top ten in our first year with Evergreen is a tremendous achievement for Pete’s RV,” said Vice President of Sales Chad Shepard. “Bay Hill fifth wheels showed exceptionally well right from the start last fall when introducing the line to our customers.”

$16,817 raised to fight hunger in VT and NY

On Saturday, October 25, locals shopped till they dropped, and raised more than $16,000 to fight hunger.

During the 5th annual Charity Sale, Lenny's Shoe & Apparel and its customers collectively raised $16,817 for the Vermont Foodbank and JCEO Plattsburgh Foodshelf. Yesterday, Lenny's District Manager Bobbie Jo Roby presented a check for $12,842 to Vermont Foodbank CEO John Sayles. On Monday Lenny's co-owner Todd McCarthy presented a check for $3,975 to JCEO Community Outreach Program Director Sally Soucia.

National Life Group’s Sentinel Investments builds for Vt. Foodbank

Teams from National Life Group’s Sentinel Investments asset management company raised money and collected food for the Vermont Foodbank this week while challenging other companies to do the same.

Sentinel employees split up into teams to create “Canstruction” structures made from canned goods that will be donated to the Foodbank. Canstruction is a charity that has inspired creation of elaborate structures made of canned goods all over the world that are then donated to hunger relief.

Daniel W. Johnson joins People’s United Bank as senior commercial portfolio manager

People’s United Bank announced today that Daniel Johnson has joined the Bank as Senior Vice President and Senior Commercial Portfolio Manager. Dan will be responsible for assisting his clients with all of their commercial finance needs.

Dan, a graduate of Norwich University, brings over 28 years of banking experience to his new role. Additionally, he is an active member of our community with many years of involvement with the Colchester/Milton Rotary Club, Vermont Dental Care Programs and Essex Youth Sports. He is also a member of the Vermont Banker’s Association.
