Patricia Donehower, RN and Virginia Hood, MD, named to UVM Medical Center board

Patricia Donehower, R.N., MSN, and Virginia Hood, MB.BS, MPH, were appointed to The University of Vermont Medical Center Board of Trustees following approval by The University of Vermont Health Care Network Board of Trustees earlier this week.

Donehower is a lecturer in nursing in the UVM College of Nursing and Health Sciences and recently retired as vice president Clinical Services, from the Visiting Nurse Association for Chittenden and Grand Isle Counties (VNA). She held several administrative positions at that organization after joining it in 1999.

The Converse Home elects new board members

The Converse Home, announced the election of new board member, Keller McKenzie, of Burlington. Keller is a Paralegal for Little & Cicchetti and a Law Clerk under the Vermont Board of Bar Examiner’s Four Year Law Office Study program. Tom Heinrich, of Colchester, Senior Account Manager with the Symquest Group, was elected Chair of the Board. The Converse Home, in operation since 1886, is a private, non-profit assisted living community in Burlington.

“Top of the World” - paintings & artist’s books of the Arctic by Ken Leslie in the UVMHN-CVMC Gallery

Ken Leslie has devoted much of his efforts over the past twenty-five years capturing, with paint, the changing winter and summer of the Artic. The work featured at the Gallery at University of Vermont Health Network-Central Vermont Medical Center is from more than a dozen residencies at and far above the Arctic Circle: Kotzebue, Alaska; Iqaluit (Baffin Island), Canada; Akureyri, Iceland; Inari, Finland; Kjøllefjord, Norway; Longyearbyen, Svalbard and just last summer, Upernavik, Greenland.

NBT Bank supports efforts of Williston community food shelf

NBT Bank continues its support of the communities it serves with a recent donation to support the efforts of the Williston Community Food Shelf.

Williston Community Food Shelf serves an average of 850 residents a month providing high-quality food to those in need in the towns of Williston, St. George, Richmond and Essex.

Bond Auto Parts’ stores raises over $30,000 for local food shelves

Bond Auto Parts, Inc., a Barre, VT based company, created a fundraising mission during this past holiday season and raised $30,525 for local food shelves across its network of stores. Food shelves across the region are typically hit hard during the holiday season and the money raised can go to purchasing food to replenish their shelves or help run their programs. Bond Auto’s 45 store locations throughout Vermont, New Hampshire, Massachusetts and New York worked hard along with their customers to raise the funds.

Windsor Fire Department teams up with Mt. Ascutney Hospital and Health Center for firefighter training

Members of the Windsor Fire Department performed double duty recently as they took part in training activities at Mt. Ascutney Hospital and Health Center’s former Skilled Nursing Home facility. The training, which entailed breaking down walls and doors and simulated rescue situations, was also part of the construction project currently underway at MAHHC to remodel the old nursing home into a new state-of-the-art inpatient rehabilitation center.
