Rotary Club of Montpelier names John Snell Citizen of the Year

John Snell was recently honored by the Rotary Club of Montpelier with the Capital Award as Citizen of the Year.

A number of friends and colleagues shared stories about John’s extraordinary volunteer work and business successes including David Harrison, who has known John for 60 years, Bev Hill, Kim Bent for Eric Love, Rob Spring -- John’s business partner for 20 years, John’s wife Liz Snell, Nancy Sherman read greetings from Michael Sherman, and Paul Hartman.

Steve Cormier hired at Radio Vermont Group

Veteran Vermont radio broadcaster Steve Cormier has been hired as Director of Sales for the Radio Vermont Group.

Ken Squier, President of the five station radio group said “our stations, and particularly WDEV, are entering a new world with Steve Cormier as Director of Sales”. The Radio Vermont Group includes the flagship WDEV FM and AM, 101 The One (WCVT on Mt. Mansfield at 101.7 and sister station WEXP FM 101.5 in Rutland), and WLVB FM 93.9 in Morrisville.

Center for Donation and Transplant names UVM Medical Center nurse “Healthcare Champion of the Year”

Amy Lumsden, RN, a case manager at The University of Vermont Medical Center has been chosen “Healthcare Champion of the Year” by The Center for Donation & Transplant (CDT) for her tireless support of organ and tissue donation in the hospital network and greater community.

Fairbanks Museum & Planetarium honors Senator Leahy

The Fairbanks Museum & Planetarium honored U.S. Senator Patrick Leahy, presenting him with its annual Franklin Fairbanks Award, which recognizes “outstanding achievements by an individual that have significantly enriched regional or national awareness and understanding of our cultural heritage or the natural world.” The museum established the award in the name of its founder in 1988. The first recipient was Senator Leahy’s longtime partner representing Vermont in the Senate, U.S. Senator Robert Stafford.
