Former Johnson State basketball standout Miles Smith Jr returns as head coach, assistant athletics director
A familiar name has returned to the Johnson State College Athletics Department: Miles Smith Jr., a 2009 JSC alumnus and former Badger basketball standout, is the college’s new head men’s basketball coach and assistant director of athletics.
Smith replaces Tommy Verdell, who served as head coach for two years before leaving this summer to become assistant director of athletics and compliance officer at Bates College in Maine.

Social psychologist, former member of The Blue Man Group join faculty ranks at Johnson State College
Johnson State College has hired two new full-time faculty members: social psychologist Leslie Johnson and longtime actor, artist and writer Isaac Littlejohn Eddy.
Johnson is teaching undergraduate psychology courses in the Behavioral Sciences Department. She most recently served as an assistant professor of psychology at Finlandia University in Michigan. She holds both a Ph.D. and an M.A. in general/experimental psychology from the University of Vermont.
