A familiar name has returned to the Johnson State College Athletics Department: Miles Smith Jr., a 2009 JSC alumnus and former Badger basketball standout, is the college’s new head men’s basketball coach and assistant director of athletics.

Smith replaces Tommy Verdell, who served as head coach for two years before leaving this summer to become assistant director of athletics and compliance officer at Bates College in Maine.

Norwich University continues its Todd Lecture Series with “An Evening with Madeleine Albright,’’ a presentation by the former United States Secretary of State on Tuesday, November 3, 2015, at 7 p.m. in Plumley Armory.

This lecture is free and open to the public.

Cathedral Square has announced the appointment of Kim Fitzgerald as its new CEO.

For 15 years, Kim has served in many capacities within Cathedral Square, a Vermont-based nonprofit organization. In the last three years Kim has held the combined role of Chief Operations Officer and Chief Financial Officer.

Dr. Laura Barber, MD, has joined the Chelsea Health Center, bringing more than 20 years of experience caring for families as a primary care physician.

When the private primary care group practice she had led in Abilene, Texas recently dissolved rather than affiliate with a larger healthcare organization, Dr. Barber saw an opportunity to move to New England, where her son and sister live.

David S. Silverman, President and Chief Executive Officer of Union Bank announced that the Board of Directors of Union Bankshares, Inc. appointed Dawn D. Bugbee of South Hero, Vermont to the Board of Directors of Union Bank.

Johnson State College has hired two new full-time faculty members: social psychologist Leslie Johnson and longtime actor, artist and writer Isaac Littlejohn Eddy.

Johnson is teaching undergraduate psychology courses in the Behavioral Sciences Department. She most recently served as an assistant professor of psychology at Finlandia University in Michigan. She holds both a Ph.D. and an M.A. in general/experimental psychology from the University of Vermont.
