Vermont attorney Thomas P Aicher named special council for The National Ski Areas Association

Thomas P. Aicher, Esq., partner in the Rutland, Vermont law firm of Cleary, Shahi & Aicher, has recently been named Special Counsel for the National Ski Areas Association. Mr. Aicher was assigned to this national ski industry role by Michael Berry, President of NSAA, at a recent meeting in Squaw Valley California. NSAA is the national trade association of U.S. ski area operators and industry support businesses headquartered in Englewood, Colorado.

UVM Medical Center food service director wins highest industry honor

Diane Imrie, the University of Vermont Medical Center’s director of Nutrition Services, has received a prestigious “Silver Plate Award” from the International Foodservice Manufacturing Association (IFMA). The award, commonly referred to as the “Oscars” of the food service industry, recognizes Imrie’s leadership in developing a model program to deliver high-quality, healthy and sustainably-produced food to the hospital’s patients and visitors.

Vermont Athletic Academy students help launch sailing season for people living with cancer

Student-athletes from Vermont Athletic Academy brought their mindfulness practice to Burlington’s waterfront last week to volunteer with Healing Winds Vermont on behalf of cancer patients and their families.

On May 20th, middle school students gathered by the Lake Champlain waterfront with mindfulness coach Elvira Tripp O’Leary, parent Susie Therrien, and Healing Winds Vermont board member and Captain Glen Findholt. The students’ task: to scrub and ready for the season the 28.5 foot sailing vessel “Jubilee” while practicing awareness and self-improvement.

Lake House Pub & Grille re-opens with new ownership

After a brief closure, a change in ownership, a welcome new remodel and a menu redesign, the Lake House Pub & Grille commenced to full operating hours recently. The new owners, comprised of an independent partnership of three local couples, acquired the establishment in December 2015 and immediately began renovations. “Our goal was to maximize the space, giving guests the opportunity to relax and truly enjoy the view” said Khele Sparks, a member of the partnership.
